A thief opened a patrol car and stole a police jacket while officers were dealing with a fight.
PC Matthew Wincell spotted the thief and gave chase in West Street, Brighton, early today.
The thief dropped the jacket and a suspect was arrested in Boyces Street.
Two people were arrested at the fight outside Creation nightclub.
