Scott Kirkwood helped English Colleges beat Midlands College 2-1 at the University of Warwickshire.
The Crawley midfielder (Brighton, Hove and Sussex Sixth Form) is due to tour the United States with the colleges this month.
He said: "I've played a part in two other matches but this time I got a whole game and thought I did quite well."
Meanwhile, Brighton Boys' under-11s reached the semi-final of the South East Region Trophy with a 3-1 win at Sutton.
Albion centre of excellence player Jamie Crellin scored twice and Billy Ratcliffe netted a penalty after being brought down.
Goalkeeper Stefan Karakashian made a vital save before Brighton broke away for Crellin to score and turn the game.
Brighton entertain Bexley, who they beat 4-1 in a friendly earlier this season, in the last four.
Brighton Boys' under-16s have had mixed fortunes.
They lost 2-1 at Maidstone, when Aaron Gunn scored, and beat West Sussex West 3-1 at home with goals from John Standing, younger brother of Bradford midfielder Michael, an own goal and Sam Rents.
Sussex Schools under-16s take on Somerset at Bognor in the quarter-finals of the English Schools' Trophy at Bognor tomorrow (6pm).
