Staff at a Crawley hotel are dismissing tabloid reports that asylum-seekers have "trashed" the place.
It has been claimed the refugees caused damage costing thousands of pounds to rooms, breaking up furniture and overturning water coolers.
But a spokesman at the Gatwick Europa Hotel, near Maidenbower, said: "We have 40 Afghani asylum seekers here who have been our guests for three months. It is rubbish to suggest there has been any trouble.
"They have caused no problems and next week will be moving on to another hotel, I believe in the Midlands."
The men are all torture victims fleeing the conflicts at home. They were originally housed at the Holiday Inn at Gatwick before moving on to the Europa.
Their bills are paid by the Home Office.
