The needs of children and their families are at the heart of our plans for a new child development centre in Brighton and Hove and we are already talking to them about their priorities (March 5).

Anyone who has seen the new East Brighton Community Mental Health Centre, which opened at Brighton General Hospital last year, will know what can be done given determination, investment and the right design.

However, all options are still being looked at given the centre must be near other child health services in the city.

We look forward with our council colleagues to having a development which will carry on the excellent work of the existing MacKeith Centre in more modern, family-friendly surroundings.
