Brighton rider Mike Coyle scored a double victory in Sussex CA open time trials despite crashing earlier in the week.
Coyle (VC Etoile), a teacher at Brighton school Cardinal Newman, said: "It was a freak accident. I was riding in the school grounds when my bike skidded and I fell off.
"It shook me up and my leg has been really sore but I decided to race and see how it went.
"Although I didn't feel 100 per cent I'm glad I decided to give it a go."
Coyle recorded 39min.56sec in the first event over a 16.5-mile circuit round Ashurst, which was a good time in wet and windy conditions.
Steve Dennis (East Grinstead) was only six seconds slower in second place, while Stephen Emmerson (Epsom) was third in 40min.11sec.
Worthing rider Steve Woodbridge (GS Stella) was fourth with 40min.51sec.
Surrey rider Mick Deen (Redmon) was fifth in 42min.10sec and Bruce Griffiths (VC Bayeux) recorded 42min.24sec for sixth.
Phil Wise (42min.47sec) and Mark Jones (42min.48sec) finished eighth and ninth to give GS Stella the team win.
Lisa Griffiths (Eastbourne Rovers) and Angela Nainby (East Grinstead) battled it out in the women's race.
Griffiths clocked 46min.38sec to beat Nainby by 15 seconds. She said: "I was hoping to be a bit faster but the wind was too strong."
Coyle was more confident the following day when he rode in the Sussex CA 25- mile time trial near Horsham. He clocked a winning time of 59min.27sec while London riders Dominic Hill (59min.55sec) and Keith Coffey (1hr.0min.59sec), both from the Bec CC, were second and third.
Dave Pollard (In Gear) was fourth in 1hr.1min.7sec while Paul Byford (Crawley CC) tied for fifth place in 1hr.1min.49sec. Also making the top ten were Steve Frame (Eastbourne Rovers) who was seventh in 1hr.2min.9sec and Frank Lawler (Crawley Wheelers), eighth in 1hr.2min.19sec.
Harry Featherstone (Eastbourne Rovers), 70, won the veterans' handicap and Angela Nainby was the fastest woman.
Sussex riders John Limpus (GS Stella) and Steve Geran (VC Bayeux) were the second fastest pair in the Border CA 20-mile two-up team time trial in Hampshire. Stella pair Phil Wise and Steve Woodbridge were third.
