A job for a new headteacher at a school with a troubled past is being advertised with a salary of £72,000.
East Brighton College of Media Arts is advertising the post for a new headteacher for the secondary school in The Times Educational Supplement today.
The school's head, Dr Jill Clough, is retiring on advice of her doctor because of continued ill health.
Dr Clough was hailed as the captain who led her staff to victory in turning round the fortunes of the struggling secondary school.
The college was one three schools in Sussex to be taken out of special measures by the Government education watchdog Ofsted last year, when Dr Clough was praised for her tough approach which help to turn the school around.
She has been absent from the Wilson Avenue school in Whitehawk, Brighton, since the end of last term.
The advertisement for a new headteacher offers a salary of between £62,535 and £72,000.
It asks for candidates, who are talented, original and forward thinking.
The college is the subject of a £27 million private finance initiative to provide new facilities at the school.
The new head will be asked to increase parent participation and adult education classes as well as partnerships with other agencies.
