Three city centre attacks are being investigated by police.
In the first of the unrelated incidents, a young woman was attacked in London Road, Brighton, at 7pm on Saturday by a man who tried to snatch her handbag.
He ran off down a side street after the student, 23, screamed and tried to hang on to the bag.
The robber was black, about 5ft 9in, of medium build and clean shaven.
On Monday, a 15-year-old boy was assaulted at 6pm by two strangers as he walked along Air Street towards Queens Road, Brighton.
The unprovoked attack left him with a broken nose and a black eye.
In another attack on Monday, at 10.30am, a man was seriously injured when he was beaten up and left bleeding in the hallway of flats at St John's Mount in Mount Pleasant, Brighton.
Police want to hear from anyone who was nearby at the time, especially the person who treated the victim for his injuries before an ambulance arrived.
Police are appealing for anyone with information about any of the incidents to call PC Scott Kendall at Brighton police station on 0845 6070999.
For the incident at St John's Mount, they should ask for the anti-victimisation unit.
