The 2003 International Breakbeat (Breakspoll) Awards have confirmed what many on the breaks scene have been whispering for the best part of a year.
Namely that Brighton-based twin labels Supercharged and Against The Grain are home to some of the hottest talents on the flourishing breakbeat scene.
They picked up four out of twelve awards, including best new label (Supercharged), best new act (Raw As F***) and best remix (for Krafty Kuts' remix of Afrika Bambataa's Funky Heroes). Krafty Kuts was also named Face of Breakbeat.
And the best news for Brighton clubbers is we can enjoy this lot's company on a regular basis.
We've previously said the Supercharged night at the Funky Buddha Lounge was one of Brighton's best-kept secrets ... it just might not be so secret anymore.
Residents Skool of Thought, who runs the Supercharged and Against The Grain labels with Krafty Kuts, A-Skillz and KK himself, run a tight ship every Wednesday night and it's close to heaven for fans of hip hop, funk and breakbeat.
Nice one guys. 10pm to 2am. Admission is £4/3. Tel 01273 725541.
