Norman Cook is disappointed because a May Day party and barbecue at Brighton Racecourse that he was to headline has been called off (The Argus, March 7).
Did it not occur to him the venue would have been within a quarter of a mile of a working hospital and the noise pollution caused could have had a detrimental effect on the sleep and recuperation of the patients and disturbed the staff due who go on duty the following day?
Looking at a map of the city, I note there appears to be a large area of beach and open space close to Hove Lagoon and Western Esplanade of sufficient size to house a party.
There is also Monarch's Way and Basin Road South, where the party-goers would be able to leave their vehicles without infringing local residents' parking.
Surely this would be an answer to the organiser's difficulties, as long as the necessary licences were obtained?
I understand some of the local residents are renowned party-goers and would probably welcome the event. I also understand some of the local beach is privately owned, so that is an easy solution to the problem.
