What on Earth were the Lib Dems doing protesting outside Lewes District Council offices against the proposed incinerator (March 12)? It is because of these people we have this waste strategy.
The plan to incinerate huge volumes of East Sussex waste was guided by Labour in Brighton and Hove and the Lib Dems in East Sussex against a background of protests from Newhaven residents, Greens and zero-waste groups.
Two years ago, the Lib Dems were thrown out of office in East Sussex and we have had no help from them since in trying to change the waste strategy. Brighton and Hove Lib Dems have fully supported the plans.
So why the fuss now? Local elections are in six weeks time. This is the worst sort of hypocrisy and it drags local government into disrepute.
I hope voters will vote against dishonest candidates and for people with integrity.
