Remarkable work is being done in schools all over Sussex, as The Argus shows today.
Ifield Middle School in Crawley faced closure three years ago after a damning report from government inspectors.
But it has picked up so much that Ofsted has labelled it a success and it is no longer in special measures.
St Anne's Special School in Lewes is threatened with closure, not because it's failing but for financial reasons.
In spite of all the pressure, the school is doing a wonderful job with children who each have different problems.
Wivelsfield Primary School looks lovely from the outside but the buildings are too small and old-fashioned for modern needs.
It does not even have its own hall and children have to walk down the road to a church hall for their gym lessons.
Yet Wivelsfield has done remarkably well in spite of these handicaps and children get a good education.
Schools like these could win through in the annual achievement awards run by The Argus. They are being reorganised to recognise unsung heroes in Sussex from many walks of life.
You can help by nominating people who are doing magnificent work without being recognised for it.
