A pensioner was left shaken after yobs hurled a heavy plant pot through his window in the middle of the night.
Former policeman Ken Lowe, 78, was woken by the sound of glass breaking at his home in Hangleton Valley Drive, Hove, in the early hours of Saturday.
Police say the plant pot was so heavy it would have taken two people to lift it.
They want to hear from anyone who saw a car speeding away just before 1.30am.
Mr Lowe said: "I heard a crash and thought the chimney had come down. I got up and heard a car driving away at fast speed.
"I've no idea why someone would do this. Unfortunately it's the sort of thing you expect these days."
Sgt Richard Delacour said: "It was a very heavy plant and it must have taken two people to lift it. Mr Lowe was very shaken but is all right now."
