Last week, I received, with a load of other junk mail, some election propaganda on behalf of the Labour Party.
It was printed by Councillor Brian Fitch who, with two other Labour party members, is trying to win seats in my ward.
Included in the leaflet was the badge and logo of the Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club.
I was appalled because, having supported the club since 1947 and being a season ticket-holder, I never thought the club would choose to support any one political party over another.
I wondered who it was at the club who gave permission for their name to be associated with Labour's election campaign and to bring politics into football, where it does not belong?
I realise, over the years, Messrs Caplin and Bassam have tried to gain some street cred by association but for the club to nail its colours to the mast of a sinking Labour Party ship when we should all be doing everything in our power to keep the club afloat is a big mistake.
Hands up the guilty party.
Just remember, although the members of the board lead from the front, it is the tens of thousands of fans of all parties that make up the true body of our club.
Not in our name.
