I was surprised the vice-chancellor of Sussex University welcomes a new road through Stanmer Park to relieve traffic queues leaving Sussex University.

I always liked Brighton and Hove Bus and Coach Company's ad: "The intelligent way to travel."

It's more intelligent to save the parkland and bring in congestion charging for these vehicles.

There are excellent public-transport links to Falmer by bus and train and you can also cycle.

Stanmer Park is a nature reserve and traffic emissions cause asthma. Get the priorities right.
