The earth certainly moved for newly-weds Chris and Kim McCabe when two mechanical diggers turned up at their wedding.
The mini excavators, worth about £50,000 each, were delivered by low-loader to their marriage ceremony at the Berkeley Hotel, Marine Parade, Worthing, on Saturday.
They formed an eye-catching and memorable ceremonial archway for the couple at the hotel entrance.
Chris, 29, who lives near Arundel, is managing director of MJ McCabe and Sons, a civil engineering firm based at Partridge Green.
The stunt was organised by work colleague Justin Scott-Thomas, who managed to keep the surprise under wraps until the low-loaders turned up.
Kim even saw the diggers when she was at the hairdressers but did not realise what was happening.
Justin said: "They loved it, but Chris was worried about who was paying for the low-loaders."
About 140 guests attended the wedding, which was also graced by two ice sculptures, shaped liked diggers.
The couple, who have a one-year-old son, Michael, left for a honeymoon in New York.
