Popular DJ Ambrose Harcourt will present his last show for Southern FM this weekend.
Despite a campaign to keep him and his Love Zone programme on air the velvet-voiced 52-year-old will say goodbye to listeners at 1am on Monday.
He will then walk out of Southern FM's studios for good.
Hundreds of his fans have written letters urging Capital Radio, owners of Southern FM to change their mind about ending Ambrose's contract.
Letters have also been published in The Argus criticising the decision to silence one of the station's longest-serving DJs.
A previous campaign to keep Ambrose on Southern FM in 1997 led to a change of heart and the DJ, who lives in Goring, was back on air after a few months.
But this time it seems there is little chance management will change its mind again.
Ambrose, just back from a holiday in Jamaica, said: "I have been inundated with messages of support from all over the South of England.
"I just want to say thank you to everyone who has written. Support from listeners has been overwhelming.
"In life, you can never say never but I am resigned to leaving the airwaves of Southern FM in the early hours of Monday morning after my 10pm shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
"I shall just say goodbye to my listeners and walk out of the studios."
Southern FM say Ambrose's contract is being ended as part of a refreshing of programme schedules.
