This new gallery in Bedford Place is dedicated to bringing challenging and innovative contemporary art to the public.
As such it will sell not only paintings but also limited edition books made by artists and illustrators as well as fanzines and art magazines with a contemporary artistic edge.
Laura Mousavi, who runs the gallery, plans to show work from all disciplines including audio-visual work and installations by artists locally, nationally and internationally.
"I didn't feel there was anywhere in Brighton where you could see coherent exhibitions with a really strong concept," she said. "There are galleries doing that but not really enough. There's not much variety."
She hopes to receive funding so the gallery can remain a place that exhibits work for its artistic merit rather than commercial value.
