John Parry tells us we must now stop protesting against the war and support 'our' forces who may be killed or injured.
The best way to protect our forces and, indeed, those of all nationalities who face death or injury, is to work as hard as possible to stop this war now and then to dismantle the multi-billion dollar arms industry which fuels all conflicts.
My five-year-old son was able to explain this to me while watching the TV news.
While the stupidity of those who have led us into war is depressing, the sight of so many teenagers on the streets of Brighton protesting for peace gives cause for optimism.
Maybe they will succeed where Mr Parry's generation failed.
