Residents in East Sussex are being asked to play a vital role in their community by becoming a justice of the peace.
A campaign is under way to find potential magistrates for appointment next year.
The work is voluntary, although travel and subsistence expenses are paid.
No legal expertise is needed as full training is given.
Applicants must be prepared to attend court for a minimum of 26 half-days a year, with the ideal being 35 to 45 half-days a year.
Applicants must be aged between 27 and 64, of good character and ideally have an up-to-date knowledge of social issues.
