I note The Argus failed to report that the Lewes MP Norman Baker unequivocally stated at the public inquiry last Thursday he "would rather see the Albion go out of business than have the land at Village Way North lose its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty AONB status".
Is this the same MP who in correspondence with a constituent (March 2000) was at pains to state: "I do agree that it is important that local people in Lewes district are given a proper opportunity to make their views known on this matter and I am asking the director of planning at Lewes District Council to invite representations from all residents of the district and not simply those who are immediately on the doorstep of any proposed development."
Representations from all residents of the district were not actively sought and Mr Baker backed Falmer Parish Council in its marginalised Nimby approach.
As if the despicable actions of ex-Liberal Democrat MP and former Albion chief executive David Bellotti were not enough.
More than 45 per cent of East Sussex signatures in support of the community stadium at Falmer came from Lewes district alone.
Our petition gave 10:1 support compared with the Falmer Parish Council anti-petition.
In spite of Mr Baker's crass statement, we will win and the community stadium at Falmer will happen.
And when the stadium is built, results on the pitch will be followed by thousands.
Those same thousands will eagerly await another result - on General Election night, when the Lewes result is declared.
