Trevor Pateman is right to ask for the removal of the big black bins from Western Road in Brighton and Hove (Letters, March 27), as was Frances Walker to draw attention to the ugly recycling bins in Montpelier Crescent.
I wrote about the way the new map container blocked an enjoyable view of East Street.
Now the bollards in Princes Place have been painted black. They looked so much better in their pale green undercoat.
These are all examples of the same question - who decides whether these objects are an improvement to our city?
Shouldn't we have an urban designer to advise on these kinds of additions?
The flower stall in front of the view of St John's church in Hove is a wonderful example of good townscape, though it is marred by yet more recycling bins.
