Bognor have been knocked off the top of Division One South after their seven match unbeaten run was brought to an end by Bracknell at Nyewood Lane.
Bracknell completed the double over Bognor with a 1-0 win which allowed Carshalton to go back to the top following their 1-0 home victory over Banstead.
They are three points clear of Bognor while Lewes are now just a point behind their Sussex rivals after a 2-2 draw at Walton and Hersham.
Bognor boss Jack Pearce admitted he wasn't surprised by his side's unexpected setback.
He said: "I was not surprised by the result but I'm still disappointed. I don't think the team has been playing that well despite the results, we seem to drop too many points at home to sides near the bottom of the table."
Their start could not have been any worse as they found themselves a goal down inside 60 seconds. Nko Ekoku sent over a corner and Neil Baker was able to break free from his marker and head home unchallenged from inside the six yard box.
The Rocks should have equalised within a couple of minutes when Guy Rutherford played a neat ball in behind the visiting defence and although Lee Stevens' cross was met by Matt Russell he pulled his effort wide of the near post.
Adam Crittenden thought he had extended Bracknell's lead midway through the first half but having lifted his near post effort past Craig Stoner it was disallowed for offside.
Michael and David Birmingham both went close either side of half-time and Michael was denied again when Bracknell goalkeeper Lee Edwards turned his low drive around the post after good work by substitute Richard Hudson.
Hudson then found Matt Russell at the far post with a free kick, but his effort struck the side netting.
There were late chances for Jodey Rowland and Nicky Wyatt but no way through for the home side.
