Charles and Shelagh Holcombe's description of the West Pier being "this dilapidated 137-year old rusting wreck" (Letters, April 2) is very offensive.
The West Pier is an important part of Brighton's rich heritage and had it been properly maintained instead of being neglected it would still be so.
