Any full-time university student will testify a lot of hard work is needed to gain a good degree.
Most of them are fortunate enough to be able to devote many hours to their studies.
They should spare a thought for people who are taking Open University degrees. Often they have jobs and undertake study in their spare time.
Today we highlight the story of Clare Holmes who had a job, a sick husband and two young children to contend with during her studies.
Retired head Clive Sexton managed to get a degree while he was also recovering from cancer.
They all thoroughly deserve their reward for hard work and each story is a tribute to the success of the Open University itself in offering opportunities to people who would otherwise not be able to benefit from academic study.
