Oxfam is challenging local companies to test their endurance.
Trailwalker UK requires teams of four to cover a 100km course across the South Downs in less than 30 hours to raise money for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust.
Trailwalker events have always attracted interest from the corporate sector.
Rod Eddington, chief executive of British Airways and a former participant in Trailwalker Hong Kong, said: "Trailwalker is an excellent team-building exercise.
"As well as training and fund-raising together, teams must start the event together, go through each checkpoint together and finish the course together."
For the first time, companies from the financial services sector can compete for the Co-operative Bank Trophy, which will be awarded to the team with the best combined effort in fund-raising and speed in completing the course.
