Health club operator LA Fitness has reassured the market it is in good shape by revealing a rise in first half operating profits and a 37 per cent increase in membership numbers.
The group, which has 64 clubs including ones in Brighton and East Grinstead, did report a slight fall in pre-tax profits to £2.8 million from £3 million after taking higher borrowing costs because of its expansion programme.
However, sales for the six months to January 31 rose 44 per cent to £30.3 million with operating profits up to £4.3 million from £3.7 million last time.
