A bus service is being launched to one of the most popular tourist attractions in Sussex.
From Saturday, the 38 bus will travel from Hassocks station to the Jack and Jill Windmill in the Sussex Downs.
It has been set up by the Sussex Downs Conservation Board (SDCB) and West Sussex County Council in conjunction with the Countryside Agency and Hassocks Parish Council The additional service is a result of the Hassocks village action plan carried out last year, which aimed to improve the provision of public transport.
The bus will stop at Hassocks station, Hassocks Post Office, Ditchling Crossroads, Jack and Jill Windmills, Lodge lane (Keymer), Hassocks Post Office and back to the station.
It runs half-hourly from 10am to 5pm on every Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holiday until September.
It is the fourth bus service the SDCB has helped to initiate in order to provide access to the South Downs, complementing the successful Brighton and Hove services including the 77 bus to Devils Dyke, the 78 to Stanmer Park and the 79 to Ditchling Beacon.
Timetables are available at tourist information centres in Burgess Hill and Brighton, railway stations from Haywards Heath to Brighton, outdoor activity shops in Brighton, shops and pubs in the Hassocks and Ditchling area, Ditchling Museum and Jack and Jill Windmill.
