In the article about Dwaine Pease (The Argus, April 2), I notice his mother asks, "Haven't they meaning the police got anything better to do?"
I am sure the answer is yes, they probably do have plenty of better things to do.
However, only weeks after the tragic death of a lorry driver on the M25 because of something being thrown through his windscreen, a motorist along a busy road has something thrown at his car - as all motorists will know, even the smallest of stones makes a loud noise when it hits the windscreen - and is worried enough to dial 999.
The police have no option other than to attend a 999 call.
What would the parents be saying if a stone had been thrown through a motorist's windscreen and he had lost control of the vehicle and run over a child? Who would be responsible?
While I am not sure of the merits of recording Dwaine's details, I am reassured the police took an incidence of stone-throwing at moving vehicles as being a matter worthy of prompt attention.
