Go celeb spotting, live the Playboy life or cross the street with the hip-hop heavyweights - it's all happening this weekend.
PHONIC HOOP, Enigma, Ship Street, Brighton, April 12 There's a Zebra Traffic Special on Ship Street so mind how you cross the road. Life and DJ Nappa (Phi Life Cypher), Jazz T (Diversion Tactics) and Simpson (Zebra Traffic resident) are serious UK hip-hop heavyweights. Life's debut solo LP Everyday Life was released to acclaim and was followed by the single Bush And Blair. Jazz T of Guildford's Diversion Tactic's crew is also a former ITF Champion so expect fireworks with a bit of help from Simpson. 10pm to 2am. Admission £7 (£6 members). Next week (April 19) it's Will Holland (aka Quantic) vs The Limp Twins. Tel 01273 328439.
THE BOUTIQUE, Concorde 2, Madeira Drive, Brighton, April 11 Apparently, the Boutique's birthday celebrations start here. Midfield General, Erol Alkan and Skint recording artists Lo-fidelity Allstars are on hand to blow out the candles. Celebrity spotters should watch out for Damon Albarn, Norman Cook and Mark Williams who, it is rumoured, will be there. 10pm to 3am. Admission £10.
THE PUSSYCAT CLUB, Concorde 2, Madeira Drive, Brighton, April 12 The feline folks are putting on their big ears and bow ties to celebrate their annual Playboy Bunny Mansion Party. Step back to the heyday of high rollers, the high life and pure excess with DJ Eddie Halliwell, who will be spinning the very best in house and trance. He will be accompanied by the Adonis Cabaret boys, bunny girls and live musicians. Starlets and medallion men can chill out to dub compositions from the Dub Shed Crew in the back room before Pussycat Unplugged takes over. This is an ideal opportunity to dust off your lounge-lizard suits and sexy nightwear and live the Playboy life. 11pm to 4am, admission £10/£12. Tel 01273 821147.
KROON KAT LOUNGE, Hanbury Ballroom, Kemp Town and FESTIVAL MAY BALL, The Ramada Jarvis Hotel Ballroom, King's Road, May 23 Due to the popularity of this sassy lounge-cool night, the Kat Pack is throwing a May Ball under the chandelier spendour of The Ramada Jarvis Hotel's ballroom.
