With current interest in the Dambusters raid on Germany during the Second World War - both a documentary and the film of the same name being broadcast on TV - I thought the picture above would interest readers.
It shows the star of The Dambusters film, Richard Todd, signing a facsimile log-book of the late Wing Commander Guy Gibson, who he portrayed in the film.
This was in 1977, when I met Richard after he had starred in a play at the Theatre Royal, Brighton.
Wing Commander Gibson was awarded the Victoria Cross for his heroism on the raid, which is reputed to have been the most technically difficult piece of flying in history.
I am ex-RAF, a member of the RAFA and obtained a pilot's licence in 1974.
