Division one south leaders Bognor opened a three-point lead at the top after securing a 2-0 win over the Metropolitan Police at Imber Court.
Despite the hosts being reduced to ten men in the second period, the Rocks were made to fight had for victory.
Bognor were almost caught cold in the opening minute when Jason Prins raced on to a ball over the top but fired into the side netting.
Bognor settled and Matt Russell should have done better with a header from a Michael Birmingham cross but failed to test Stuart MacKenzie.
Russell gave Bognor the lead in the 37th minute with a near-post finish after a fine ball from Richard Hudson.
The Police were reduced to ten men when Abby Nsubuga was dismissed for an off-the-ball incident involving Guy Rutherford on 59 minutes.
Bognor still found breaking down the Police defence a tough task, but Russell eventually got the better of Mackenzie when he dived to head home his second in the 80th minute after Jamie Howell's initial effort had rebound back of a post.
Manager Jack Pearce said: "It is a great result that keeps us up there. We are working hard and have now only conceded one goal in the last five games."
Worthing bounced back from their surprise 3-1 home defeat against struggling Leatherhead to beat second-placed Carshalton 2-0 at Woodside Road and claim one of their best victories of the season.
An early strike from Frenchman Florian Mateos and a 72nd-minute goal by Paul Rapps boosted Rebels, who are aiming for a top ten finish with seven division one south games remaining.
Goalkeeper Matthew May, on his first full appearance for six weeks in place of the injured Luke Burton, played a vital part in his side's success with several good saves.
Carshalton were guilty of poor finishing but Worthing were spurred on by Mateos' third minute chip from 20 yards which got the better of keeper Stuart Searle.
Former Albion defender Keith Dublin, 37, missed a sitter for the visitors before Rapps doubled Rebels' lead from eight yards after keeper Searle failed to take a cross by Wesley Lopez cleanly.
