Is your columnist John Parry a real person?
I don't see how it is humanly possible for anyone to have such right-wing views on so many topics.
He uses the fall of Saddam Hussein as justification for what was an illegal war.
No anti-war protesters, as far as I am aware, ever doubted that the Iraqis would lose.
They had no air force and their anti-aircraft defences had been constantly bombed even before the war began by the US and Britain.
Although the pretext for the war was supposed to be to stop them using weapons of mass destruction, they did not appear even though their country was being overrun by foreign invaders.
Parry does not mention the thousands of civilians killed or maimed, like the young boy who has had both his arms blown off.
Like Afghanistan after the US and Britain invaded, Iraq is already suffering internal conflicts between different factions.
Let's see what happens in the coming year. Then, when all the triumphalism and euphoria has died down, maybe even pro-war supporters like Parry may have to reflect on how it all went so badly wrong and the anti-war protesters were right after all.
By then we may have other things to worry about though, like the US having moved on to attack more countries.
