In spite of several replies to my letters (March 19), saying I found Christianity and warfare incompatible, I am no nearer understanding the mentality of George Bush and Tony Blair.
Christianity seems to have been repeatedly distorted to fit the situation from the Crusades and the Inquisition to the present day.
Both sides called on the same God to give them victory in both World Wars.
Chaplains often urged men to enlist. This bears no relation to the pacifist life Jesus.
Both Mr Blair and Mr Bush seem oblivious to any alternatives to military action.
Perhaps they will now turn their attention to improving the day-to-day running of their own countries and the welfare of their people instead of trying to dominate other countries by force.
It is a very sad day when I have to say I am ashamed to be British.
