We are soon to be faced with the task of electing those whom to curse when they run (or ruin) the town.
In my opinion, there is not really much of a choice.
We can be certain that whoever is elected, the actions they will take once in office will bear no relation to the promises made beforehand.
If we wish a nanny state run under New National Socialistic principles, the party that used to be Labour will do the job.
If we wish to be controlled by a party whose record in graft and corruption is second to none, the Tories will fit the bill.
The Greens have more raison d'etre but I fear their contact with reality is insubstantial.
If the Liberal Democrats campaigned with the slogan "Give us a try, how could we do any worse?", they might well get more votes.
It is clearly time for a system of proportional representation, so everybody has someone representing their convictions and those who pen opinionated ramblings to The Argus have their scope dramatically reduced.
