My delight in learning Brighton and Hove has been selected for postal voting was torpedoed when I opened the ballot envelope: There was far too much information.
The sentences were far too long and the guidance notes were much too complex.
A flow diagram, printed on deep pink paper, was confusing and unnecessary, and some words, such as "inadvertently" quite redundant.
The whole purpose, I thought, was to persuade electors to do something they are reluctant to do and, therefore, the procedure should have been as simple as possible within the constraints of security.
The forms appear to have been compiled by clever people determined to swamp us with advice.
