School governors are to stage a special meeting to discuss a budget crisis.
Many schools in Brighton and Hove are refusing to accept the budgets given to them by the city council, claiming they are too low.
At the meeting, council children's director David Hawker and assistant director Elizabeth Wylie will give governors a full briefing and answer questions.
The Reverend Stephen Terry, who chairs the Brighton and Hove Governors' Network, said: "It is vital all governors understand the implications of any course of action on which they may decide.
"We want to give them a chance to meet and share concerns so when decisions have to be made by governing bodies, they are as fully informed as possible. We hope as many governors as possible will attend."
The meeting will take place at the Learning Development Centre in Hodshrove Lane, Moulsecoomb, Brighton, on Thursday, May 1, between 7pm and 9pm.
