Philip O'Callaghan, Managing Director of Marina Developer Parkridge, rightly notes there will be "concerns" about his company's plans to erect two, 14-storey tower blocks in Brighton Marina (and judging by the photo montage shown in The Argus, at least another ten-storey block).
It is of great concern that, even though the Marina adjoins one of the most important conservation areas in our city, the proposed buildings will show above the cliff line.
This must be detrimental to the conservation area and would set a dangerous planning precedent.
Mr O'Callaghan states the expected profit from the sale of these flats is required to "fund environmental improvements".
The public should be shown a list of these "environmental improvements" and their estimated costs, which have seemingly caused Parkridge to add to the previously-agreed maximum height for buildings in the Marina of five storeys.
