I must correct Councillor Willows when he states that pensioners now have to access their money from cash machines (The Argus, April 17).
Pensions can still be collected in cash over the counter at post offices or via a cashpoint machine, if people prefer that option.
What is regrettable is the utter disregard on the part of Post Office Ltd to requests from Brighton and Hove City Council that they present a coherent plan showing their proposals for any changes to the network of branch offices in advance of any closures.
While nobody expects every single, independently-owned post office to remain viable for ever, it would be helpful to see how Post Office Ltd intends to maintain a proper geographical spread across the city and for the access issues to be properly discussed.
It is quite wrong for them to be implementing branch closures in this ad-hoc manner without meaningful consultation.
