A man suffered a suspected fractured jaw when he was attacked by a gang of five people.
The fight broke out by traffic lights at the junction of Ditchling Road and Union Road, Brighton.
The victim, 20, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.
Detective Constable Lynda Guyton, of Sussex Police, said: "This was a large fight which actually spilled on to the road so drivers had to stop their cars. I'm keen to talk to anyone who saw what happened."
The fight happened on Thursday, April 17. Police released details today.
