Home-workers are often pressured into putting in long hours and face the usual stress of trying to balance work and family commitments.
This is according to a study by researchers at the University of Teesside for the Economic and Social Research Council.
Some complained they could not relax or escape from work.
Most thought of flexibility as a benefit but admitted it resulted in working in the evenings and weekends.
