I would like to wish Joshua Howell, featured in The Argus Achievement Awards (April 29), good luck and best wishes for the future.
Reading the account of Joshua's diagnosis, his successful treatment and the tumour he had not being malignant has given me a little extra hope to help me.
I have been diagnosed with pituitary adenoma. From what I understand so far, mine is probably benign, non-functioning and has not significantly grown since May 2002. It is still small.
Because of the reactions I was getting, I pushed for a second opinion on my condition and was, in a way, relieved to have the diagnosis from Brighton Health Care NHS Trust. I felt something inside me over the years telling me I had a tumour.
Now it has been confirmed.
I wait to hear from the Conquest Hospital, Hastings, for any necessary treatment, having been transferred because of difficulty in getting to Brighton.
Not only has Joshua shown great bravery and determination with regard to his education and his own health, he has also shown me that perhaps I have not too much to worry about.
