Steve Coppell is prepared to carry on at Albion, provided the terms are right.

His current 12-month contract runs out in October and chairman Dick Knight has indicated a longer term deal will be put on the table.

Coppell, who just failed to save Albion from relegation to Division Two, said: "If the offer is right I'll stay."

He will speak to Knight about a new deal now the relegation issue has been resolved.

He said: "I can't say when that will be but I would prefer it is sorted out quickly.

"I would like to carry on but there are a few factors to consider. It is not just the offer, although that has to be right.

"There has got to be some investment in the team. There hasn't been any in the past three years.

"It's not about signings and transfer fees, there will be a lot of unemployed players around in the close season, it's about wages as well.

"I haven't received an offer yet but Dick and I chatted about the issue a while ago and agreed to get the season out of the way first."

Coppell said he would not insist on the deal being linked with a move to a new stadium.

He said: "That is something three or four years down the road."

Coppell has the backing of players, supporters and backroom staff.

He said: "It helps an awful lot when people want you to stay."

Coppell took over from Martin Hinshelwood last October with Albion bottom of the table. He revived the team and presided over ten victories which was almost enough to secure Albion's survival in Division One.

Their fate was decided on the final day on Sunday when Stoke beat Reading and Albion drew 2-2 at Grimsby.

Bobby Zamora is rumoured to have played his last match for Albion.

The striker, who scored the Seagulls' first goal from the penalty spot at Blundell Park, has been linked with Premiership moves to Tottenham and Leicester.

But Coppell said: "I have had no offers or inquiries for Bobby.

"It may well be there are things to discuss and if there are it would be up to the chairman (Dick Knight) and Bobby to sit down and talk about it.

"There's been so much waffle written and spoken about it, a lot in anticipation."
