For many, the mandolin conjures images of doomed love set against the sun-drenched background of war-torn Kefalonia.
But the beauty of the instrument cannot be encapsulated in Louis de Bernieres' spellbinding novel Captain Corelli's Mandolin alone and this concert is the perfect way to experience the splendour and versatility of it in the haunting atmosphere of St George's Church.
The 20-piece ensemble will pluck their way through a range of styles from classical to folk.
In particular, look out for 16-year-old prodigy Eddie Haydn-Smith who performs Vivaldi's mesmerising Concerto For Two Mandolins.
