A tyre slasher caused about £700-worth of damage on an early-morning wrecking spree through the Broadwater area of Worthing.
Some 14 car owners woke to find their vehicles had been vandalised outside their homes. They had one tyre puncture each.
Les Palmer, 58, of Southdown View Road, said his Ford Escort and his 28-year-old son Richard's BMW were damaged just weeks after they had both bought new tyres.
Mr Palmer, a driver for The Argus, said he heard a loud hissing sound from his bedroom at about 2.40am but only discovered the extent of the damage in daylight.
A short walk revealed cars in neighbouring streets, including Penfold Road, also had tyres slashed.
Police appealed for witnesses.
