Firefighters were called to a blaze at an end-of-terrace house in Eastbourne.
The home in Croxden Way, Hampden Park, was said to be well alight when the crews arrived shortly after 2pm on Saturday.
Firefighters, who found smoke bill-owing from every window, spent almost an hour fighting the blaze, which caused extensive damage to the property.
Nobody was in the building at the time.
