Cuckmere Valley League: Second division leaders Caburn were bowled out for the second lowest total in the history of the league.

The previously unbeaten table-toppers were skittled out for just eight against promotion rivals Nutley.

Caburn may have fancied their chances of another win after dismissing their visitors for 114 but their reply was blitzed by Grant Olive (5-3) and Mick Scott (4-5).

However, the total is not the lowest in the league's history as Firle were dismissed for six by Selmeston many years ago.

In division one, the leaders also lost as Blackboys were beaten by reigning champions Alfriston.

Matthew Harmer (39) and Lee Poulton (38) helped hosts Alfriston to 161-5 from their 40 overs, In reply, Blackboys slumped from 68-1 to 87-9 and then 117 all out as Steve Knight took 5-27 and Simon Harmer 3-19. Matt Bradford hit 41.

Selmeston have now joined Blackboys at the top after a 56-run success at East Dean. Mick Baldwin's 63 helped Selmeston to 168-5 as Tim Woodward took 4-26, then Bill Filby and Dave Clark shared six wickets as the hosts were dismissed for 112.

Harrick Patel claimed 7-11 as Bells Yew Green skittled Burwash Weald for 48. Chris Beasleigh then led the way with 44 as the visitors knocked off the runs without losing a wicket.

Richard Ellinor impressed with bat and ball as Firle won by four wickets at home to Denton. Ellinor took 4-21 as Denton were dismissed for 159 and he then hit 38 as Firle reached their target with two overs to spare, Richard Gravett top-scoring with 72.

Division two: Preston Village 141-3 (Hussain 81no) beat Laughton 140 (L. Gillman 41); Caburn 8 (Grant Olive 5-3, Mick Scott 4-5) lost to Nutley 122 (Alan Poulter 53, Finlay 4-36); Bells Yew Green II 257-7 (J. Philpott 81, S. Patel 45no) beat Firle 203-5 (Alistair Climpson 91); Withyham II 127 lost to Isfield 161 (P. Collier 4-20).
