A foster mother celebrated her 100th birthday with four generations of her family.
Many of Ethel Scutt's foster children came from as far away as the United States to wish her many happy returns.
Three children, ten grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren were at Churchley Rest Home, New Church Road, Hove, to celebrate the special day.
Granddaughter Beverley Penman said: "She's amazing. She is pretty feisty and up until she went into the rest home she was getting out and about. She was chuffed to get her telegram from the Queen."
Mrs Penman said her grandmother had first begun fostering 70 years ago when her own mum was small.
She described how Mrs Scutt started with evacuees and had fostered at least 25 children.
Mrs Penman said Mrs Scutt had asked for people to have a raffle rather than have birthday presents.
She raised £150, which will be presented to the Trevor Mann Baby Unit at Royal Sussex County Hospital.
