Gary Croydon is back in charge at Burgess Hill following the shock sacking of Danny Bloor.

Club director Croydon has returned for a second stint as manager just over a year after handing over to Bloor.

Croydon, 51, will now lead the Hillians in their first season in the Dr Martens League southern division.

Bloor has been axed despite leading the club to the County League title and promotion in his first year in management.

Croydon said: "The board of directors, probably led by me, felt Danny did an excellent job last season but the step up to Southern League football, with his lack of experience, would have been difficult for him. It is better to make a difficult decision now rather than later."

Croydon added that Bloor's lack of transfer activity since the end of last season was also a factor in the decision.

Bloor said: "I respect Gary's decision to manage again with his great pal Graham Marchant (who will be coach) but there can't be too many managers who win the league by 21 points and get sacked.

"I will be looking to resume my managerial career as soon as possible and in fact have had three offers from clubs in Sussex already."
