There is now one car for every two people of the population.
There are TV sets in all rooms. Internet and computer game use have increased dramatically and our fridges are bursting at the seams with food.
We want and we are getting more leisure time with shorter working hours and more food money, all of which are increasing the opportunities to eat.
We can make as many excuses as we like and put the blame on all sorts of ingenious factors except ourselves but obesity starts at the supermarket checkout as, once the goodies are in the car and the house, they will be eaten.
