A low-pollution bus made a big impression after it was tested in Worthing.
The electric bus, made by Wright Bus, took over the Worthing to Lancing service for a day so West Sussex County Council could see how it would perform in the town's streets.
Chris Chatfield, managing director of transport company Compass, said the electric bus did use diesel fuel but emissions were barely noticeable and he was impressed with how it ran.
He said: "The bus has a small turbine which recharges the battery as it drives and it is different from other electric vehicles.
"It is virtually pollution free, everyone's very pleased. It was very quiet to the point that you did not hear it coming.
"It's a hybrid engine and does use diesel fuel but it is very clean at burning it.
"We would certainly consider using them, we are always interested in reducing pollution. I think it's the future of transport."
